Central African ‘rebels’ are now in the capital’s streets. According to different sources, South African forces are fighting alongside Bozize’s army against the ‘rebels’. Bozize arrived to power through a coup d’etat in 2003. For years, I had the first article of CAR’s constitution on my wall in the office. The article’s text proclaimed something like: the president of the country is Bozize. Glen Mpani and myself have read and coded all the constitutions of sub Saharan Africa. Several constitutions had strange powers or text. But the only that in its first article declared the name of the president was CAR. Why is South Africa so engaged in protecting Bozize?
